Ghazal - 1

<>Meri tanhai ko tera intezaar sa hay
Shayad teri yaad ka abhi ghubar sa hay <>

Huns to rahi houn phir bhi na jane kyon
Dil hai kirchi kirchi, wajood taar taar sa hay

<>Ghar to kya yeh tu ab makaan bhi nahi
Faqat ik saya-e-dar –o- deevar sa hay

<>Saqi! Mazrat! Aaj talab-e-saboo nahi
Tari abhi wasl ka khumar sa hay <>

Zakhmon ka ilaaj khud hi kar lijey hazoor
Suntain hai maseeha kuch bemaar sa hay

<>Muhabaat hay us say, na junoon – o – ishq
Bus us shukhs say humay kuch pyar sa hay <>

Seher tujh ko kaisay hon manzileen naseeb
Jab khud Khizar hi teri raah mein dewaar sa hay

checkmate, really good...what i like about the ghazal is a reflection of someone having read the classics..especially the beemaar maseeha reference is apt a'la ghalib ibn-e-mareeyam hoya karay koee... for a ghazal written 10 years ago, this shows a lot of maturity...how about posting some of your recent stuff...looking forward to a lot more where this one came from especially now that your experiences have evolved, family, work etc.... BTW have you read zehra nigah....?

Dear All, first of all my apologies for being absent. I was on a 3 day business trip to Lahore and Sialkot.

I have not written anything in the past 9 years. Yes, 9 years! I think I need a lot of pain to write poetry. And for the past 5 years my husband has kept me blessfully happy so I did not creat much :-) But I can now creat at will and don't need pain and heart ache to help me along.

Osman: I love this sher. Log aksar puchtey hain "Akhir woh tumhara hai kon?" "Tum logoon ka rishta kiya hai?" Is aik sher sey mein ney shayyad in sawalat ka jawab deney ki koshish ki hai. Aap ki pasand ka shukriya.

paranoid anony: not everyone has to understand sher-o -shairi. I am glad you visit and that is enough for me.

Mansoor: We start by biforcating Urdu and English. When you speak in Urdu or English try and use only one language at a time. Speak more in Urdu and you will see how amazingly royal it makes you feel. Then you can start off with a few Urdu books. I'll recommend some if you care to read them.

Xill-i-Illahi: As I have answered above I have not created much in the past 9 years. But I will now, promise! Aap ki hosla afzai ka bahut shukriya.

Deevan: I read Urdu poetry when I was in college. My mother is an amazing shaira. She is the one who inspired me to read and appreciate Urdu. I have regretfully not read many classics. I have only recently started reading Urdu Poetry Ustaads. But I am fallen in love with Urdu all over again. So I will surely write more now. I have not read Zehra Nigah, but is now on the list. Thank you.
